Secretary General, EuroACE
EuroACE, the European Alliance of Companies for Energy Efficiency in Buildings, is looking for a dynamic, self-starting Secretary General to take the association to a new level.
About EuroACE
EuroACE represents Europe’s leading companies involved with the manufacture, distribution and installation of energy saving goods and services for buildings. EuroACE members have a total turnover of 140 billion Euros and employ 172,000 people in Europe. The mission of EuroACE is to work together with the institutions to help Europe move towards a more sustainable pattern of energy use in buildings, thereby contributing to Europe’s commitments on climate change, energy security and economic growth. EuroACE is currently launching a multi-annual ‘Renovate Europe’ campaign, a pan-European effort to triple the energy efficient renovation of the building stock across Europe.
Your challenge
As Secretary-General, you will be responsible for the day-to-day organisation of EuroACE. You would act as the central point for all EuroACE advocacy activities, communications, fund-raising, administration and networking, and, in close consultation with the Chair and Board, set out the strategy for the association in the years to come.
You will play an integral role in maintaining and strengthening the relationship between EuroACE and its members, the European Commission, European Parliament and Member States in order to proactively develop a positive political framework for the energy efficiency industry. In addition, you will successfully manage and stimulate the involvement of members in activities, and co-ordinate a new membership drive.
Furthermore, you will represent EuroACE in a variety of European and International fora. Some campaigning and fund-raising amongst like-minded organisations and institutions would also be part of the role, most notably for our ‘Renovate Europe’ campaign.
The Secretariat currently consists of a team of two – thus, you would be working together with a Project officer. Furthermore, the association has a very ‘hands-on’ board.
Your key skills
You have a university degree in European Affairs, politics, international relations, law or equivalent work experience, with at least 5 years’ relevant work experience. You have an outgoing, go-get-it personality and like to pull many strings at once. You have strong project management capabilities and are adept at developing and implementing pro-active policy outreach and communication plans. In addition, you are very familiar with the European Institutions and have a comprehensive understanding of their decision making process.
Your interpersonal and presentation skills are excellent and you can effectively communicate messages in a variety of settings to different audiences – and enjoy doing so. You have a proven track record of developing and implementing successful public affairs strategies and have strong organisational and administrative skills. You speak and write English to near-native standard, and you might also have the advantage of being multilingual. Cultural awareness and diplomacy skills are a given. Experience in EU energy and environmental issues would an advantage, but not essential.
EuroACE offers
A senior management position bringing broad and challenging responsibilities in an industry that is very much on the up. An attractive remuneration package and benefits accompany this Brussels-based position, reflecting the importance of the role.
