EuroACE welcomes new Green Paper on Energy Efficiency
EuroACE , the European Alliance of Companies for Energy Efficiency employing 500,000 people and with a turnover of 150 billion euros, warmly welcomes the adoption today by the College of Commissioners of its Green Paper on Energy Efficiency.
This should stimulate a full debate across Europe, answering the 25 questions posed, as to how best we can realise the enormous potential savings which the Commission has established. It is clear from the Green Paper that we could enjoy today's living standard whilst using 20% less fuel. Achieving this would improve competitiveness. It would cut the need to import so much fuel. And it would be the most cost-effective way to achieve our Kyoto targets.
EuroACE companies are pledged to join with all the European institutions
in this campaign to cut out waste. We welcome today's all-party statement
of support for energy efficiency from the European Parliament. And we confidently
expect that the incoming UK Presidency will prioritise making this consultation
exercise a success.
