European Parliament adopts report on energy efficiency implementation progress

Statement by EuroACE President Rick Wilberforce

"On behalf of EuroACE, I congratulate the European Parliament and, in particular, its rapporteur Fiona Hall upon adopting so overwhlemingly this excellent and incisive report. The full support it has received from all the main political groups is an important signal of the seriousness with which the European Parliament regards the issue of energy saving.

In particular, EuroACE welcomes the challenge set to both the Member States and to the Commission to ensure purposeful delivery of the directives and Action Plans already in existence. There has been sufficient rhetoric regarding the 'first priority' role of energy efficiency. What is now required are three policy responses: Implementation, implementation, implementation. "
